The kingdom of Shak'tar was formed by the first peoples born to the present day territory of Gerth, when several neighboring villages formed a defensive alliance. More villages and towns would join this kingdom, and its territory would expand west to fill out the entirety of the Flaithiuil forest. The kingdom began expansion into the plains where it made first contact with the kingdom of Tael'Reshk, which was expanding northwards at the time

Relations between the two kingdoms was peaceful for several hundred years, but eventually the political climate in Tael'Reshk prompted an invasion which led to Shak'tar's conquest. The people of the forest, as they called themselves, never forgot this kingdom and would eventually reform it in a manner of speaking, when the opportunity arose.
