Timeline
Reithe has an extremely centralized form of government. Very few laws are made at the local level. Instead, councils comprised of three members are elected to carry out governance within a particular area of government. These councils are administered by the National Council, which oversees the sub councils, and can veto any law with a unanimous vote. The Prime Minister presides over the National Council but has limited power. The sub councils include the Administrative Council, Agricultural Council, Education Council, Foreign Affairs Council, Legal Council, Mayoral Council, Military Council, Naval Council, and the Technology Council. All governance is seated in Ceilidh
When citizens of Reithe reach adulthood (age 20), they are required to serve 3 years in the government or military service. Citizens can request to serve in a particular branch of government, and if there is a surplus, rigorous testing is administered to determine the most suitable candidate. Military service can be declined without review
Religion and Values
The people of Reithe are decidedly not a spiritual people, though they do have a great deal of reverence for traditions, customs, and ritual. They value progress and knowledge most highly, seeing the pursuit of invention and innovation to be the highest goal to which one can dedicate their life. And dedicating their lives is exactly what they do. The people of Reithe are driven and ambitious, seeking out a passion and devoting all their energy to that passion
They also value an orderly society, self-expression, independence, and self-reliance. Reithans do not typically enjoy to travel outside the boundaries of their lands without cause, though there are a few notable exceptions
Dress and Appearance
For normal day to day life, most Reithans wear close fitting brown pants and white linen shirts. Leather belts, suspenders, and leather shoes are worn and typically indicate social standing. For more formal occasions, high cropped suit jackets paired with colorful scarves round out the every day attire. Silver jewelry with colorful gemstones are common adornments for both formal and everyday dress. Reithans have wavy hair which they wear long, sometimes drawn back behind the head. Reithans typically have light middle toned skin and hair, and the full range of eye colors. Their builds range from smaller to medium
Soldiers and sailors wear longer jackets with hidden buttons and a tall collar, trimmed in silver
Food
Reithe's Eorna plains are rich and produce a wide array of agricultural products, including vegetables, grains, dairy, meat and alcohol. Reithans prefer traditional, complex recipes that require intense preparations. Agricultural products are, for the most part, only produced in one of the nation's provinces. Distribution and export is carried out through a thick network of caravans, with the River faa serving as the backbone. Beers, ales, and ciders are produced, though in smaller numbers. Wines are produced in dozens of varieties and in large quantities, and are pivotal source of pride nation-wide
Music and Arts
Fewer Reithans find their passion and life's work in the arts than in other professions, but those that do hold a respected place in society. Within the arts, music is the most commonly pursued discipline. Even within music, Reithans' love of innovation and progress is ever present. Few compositions are scribed, improvisation and performance are valued most highly. Furthermore, no particular musical instruments are favored or considered to be native to the country. Often, elaborate machines are used to play out melodies or to create unique, fresh sounds or patterns
