Refir is built upon the banks of the Nakahi river, not far from its source in the Kaitaeki mountains. The city thrives on a mixture of agriculture, mining, and trade, serving as a waypoint for the nearby city of Soro and the towns and villages along the road that connects the cities. The road stays close to the base of the mountains, and at times makes use of the tunnel network that spans the foothills of the mountains

Refir's buildings are constructed from cut stone connected in a swirling pattern of interlocking pieces. This craft is an imitation of the ancient ruins found in the western portion of the Mahke forest. The style has been expanded upon and experimented with by Refir's citizens throughout the Third age. A completely new form of this craft was used to replace Refir's bridges with interlocking stone so complex and stable that even master petramancer's have difficulty pulling a brick out of the middle of the sequence
