Norwin comes from a distinguished clan in the Carragh union, in the Tsire system. Norwin is generally unkind to anyone he perceives as weak or coddling weakness in others. He seeks power for its own sake, secretly studying Desimancy, despite the fact that its practice is strictly forbidden within his clan. To this end, he has conscripted the help of his fellow house initiates Eran tamor and Elias harper, though neither of them are nearly as dedicated as Norwin.
