The Navel Chakra Puzzle is the second puzzle along the left hand track of the iron labyrinth. This puzzle does not have a trick and simply requires the players to use temperature manipulation to solve


Puzzle setup

When the players enter the room, it is mostly empty. There is a navel chakra symbol carved into the floor, and there is a pedestal in the center of the room. On the top of the pedestal is a glass case that contains a floating topaz keystone. Attached to the side of the pedestal is a large ship's wheel, giving the entire apparatus the distinct feeling of being a ship's helm

On the front of the wheel is a druid class icon, but made with two separate glass tubes. Inside each of the glass tubes is a small marble which is only slightly smaller than the diameter of the tube. It is not clear what the marbles are made of, but petramancy and hydromancy do not work on the marbles. On the southwest wall, is a diagram showing the balls at the other end of the tube

The wheel can only be turned 90 degrees to the right and left of the starting position


Solution

Due to the nature of the tubes, the only way to get both marbles to the other ends of the tubes at the same time is to be able to move the balls in the tubes using more than natural gravity. If the players can push or pull the balls within the tube, then the solution is very straightforward. The following abilities will work:

  • Any of the pyromancer abilities (except Dash) can be used to heat the air in the tube, pushing the marbles away from the heat source. This must be done with care and precision
  • The Aeromancer's Breath ability, used with just a hint of power can also heat the tubes enough to move the marble away from the heat source
  • If there is an Aeromancer or Pyromancer player, the marble should be filled with a mysterious green plant matter, and the Desimancer's Attract ability should not work on it as it is living matter. If there is no Aeromancer or Pyromancer present, the marble should be made of glass and Attract should be permitted to work


Reward

If the players solve this puzzle, the glass sphere on the pedastal opens and the players are rewarded with the topaz keystone inside. The keystone has six facests and Iron Will 3. This grants a +3 bonus to a player's Resolve score if the stone is bound to the player's navel chakra. An increase to a player's resolve modifier grants:

  • Six hit points for each additional modifier. The player's modifier may increase by 1 or 2 depending on their current resolve score
  • A bonus to Resolve Checks
  • A bonus to all Resolve based Skills
  • A bonus to all Resolve based talent formulas

Points
If the players solve this puzzle, they get 6 points
