Cooldowns

Many talents have cooldowns, which prevent you from using them in quick succession. Cooldowns are expressed in rounds, representing the number of rounds before you can use that talent again. The cooldown begins counting in the round after you use the talent

Example
You use Blade in the second round of combat. Your blade has a cooldown of three rounds. In the third, fourth, and fifth rounds, the talent is on cooldown. In the sixth round, you are free to use Blade again

The cost of reducing a cooldown

Normally, when a talent has an improvement available, the cost of that improvement is shown by the number of squares in the description:

□ Increase the range by five feet (Costs one talent point)
□□ Increase the duration of the Base Bonus by 1 round (Costs two talent points)

Talent improvements that reduce cooldowns do not follow this rule. The first time you select the improvement, the cost is one, but subsequent improvements incur increasing costs as shown below:

ImprovementCostTotal Cost
Reduce a cooldown by 1 round11
Reduce a cooldown by 2 rounds12
Reduce a cooldown by 3 rounds24
Reduce a cooldown by 4 rounds26
Reduce a cooldown by 5 rounds39
Reduce a cooldown by 6 rounds312

Example
Blade has a cooldown of 5 rounds. Its minimum cooldown is one round. To reduce the cooldown to 4 rounds costs 1 talent point. Further reducing it from 4 rounds down to 3 rounds costs 1 talent point (2 total points). Reducing it down to 2 rounds costs 2 points (4 total points). Reducing it down to 1 round costs 2 points (6 total points). The cooldown is now at its minimum cooldown and cannot be reduced further
