Description
In the Valley of the silver wind, where the great rivers of Yuanen meet and flow into the Kachua bay, sits the great and wealthy city of Kaze. Just outside the city's outer limit, perhaps a 2 hour walk by the western road to Samira, there is a small retreat nestled within the delta of the Rau river. Denizens of Kaze from all walks of life make their way to this retreat to seek the counsel and wisdom of Sage Rau. The Rau family have a line sages going back unbroken for 17 generations. They have handed down ancient heirloom Keystones which are rumored to allow the sages to tap into the wisdom of their ancestors and peer into the very minds of pilgrims seeking answers. It is said that the Rau river was named after the second sage in the Rau family lineage
Charlotte lives in the river retreat with her family, having recently returned from the Sage Pilgrimage, a three year journey in which the sages experience the varied cultures found on the planet Terra. Her personality is jovial and personable, which is out of the ordinary for the generally more reserved family lineage. Some have counted this as the major factor in the revived popularity of the retreat and its recent surge of visitors
The retreat itself sits atop a large outcropping of rock that juts out out of the river delta, rising at an angle over one of the river's branches. The buildings of the retreat are fashioned from stone and plaster with clay roof tiles. Strips of cloth and bells hang on ropes stretch between the buildings, and there is a large windmill in the center of the retreat. Near the base of this outcropping is a camp for guests seeking the sage's wisdom. As the popularity has risen, this camp has become more elaborate and permanent, with residents building structures in the traditional Yuanen fashion, typically seen throughout the Valley of the silver wind
