Arutal, the “Gateway to the East”, is the capitol of Liath and sister city to Soledad which lies across the waters of the Bay of siochana. Arutal is a primate city and is the largest port city on the continent. Nestled between the shallow Bay of siochana and the sprawling Koura grasslands, Arutal serves as the center of Liath's industry, trade, and culture

Normal tradeships are too large to sail the waters of the bay, which can be as shallow as ten feet deep. Shallow barges are crafted specifically for these waters, giving Liath unique control over trade within its borders

Liath is often known for its mysterious ability to renew the spirit, making it the destination of pilgrimage for many Terrans. Most cities in Liath are known for their serenity and peace, but Arutal is known for its hustle and bustle. Despite its more chaotic nature, the citizens are warm, friendly, and charismatic. Many who travel to Liath seeking to find themselves find Arutal's energetic vibe to be an excellent springboard for their journey

Arutal was the first major city to be founded on the continent of Inis, in 39.2M BCE when refugees fled the fighting in Koraha. Akkaus was conquering the Korahan portion of Khan'laheeri. Instead of retreating to the Mhor canyon and remain engaged in the cycle of conquest and re-conquest, many decided instead to set sail for the recently discovered continent of Inis. Arutal was at the center of their colonization efforts, the fertile marshes surrounding the city provided ample food, allowing for expansion early on in the nation's history. At the time, the city was on a small island. Over time, the waters receded, leaving rich grassland's in their wake

Arutal's buildings are mostly stone, marked by the unique brickwork construction style brought over from the deserts of the Korahan coast. Painted domes cap terraced structures, separated by a twisting maze of narrow streets and alley
