The Sylphen are a species of small, winged humanoids with a strong connection to nature. They live exclusively in the forests and other hospitable natural environments. As with the Neridae, they are revered as spirits of nature by some cultures, and are commonly found cohabiting planets with the Neridae
Slyphen have small, slight builds that are similar to a human, though much smaller. Both genders have feminine, delicate features, and can be difficult for other species to distinguish between them, leading to the common belief that male Sylphen do not exist
The Sylphen have several distinct differences from Humans. Their heads are proportionally larger than a human's. Their irises are arranged vertically and pinholed like a gecko's. Their ears are slightly pointed at the tips. Their tongues are slightly forked. Their canine teeth average a half centimeter longer than in humans
Sylphen wings are similar to butterfly wings in shape, color, and pattern. Though unproven, most Sylphen believe that every Sylphen's coloration and patter is unique to them. The colors found in their wings is not limited. Rarely, Sylphen can also have diaphanous wings. In these cases, the cross-veins are brightly with distinct patterns. Bio-luminescence is also common in both wing types
Sylphen have excellent hearing and can hear sounds outside the normal audible spectrum of most humanoids
Despite their extreme reclusive nature, the Sylphen have good relations with most of the galaxy. They are typically seen as friendly to other species, though slightly feral. Some cultures believe that they are spirits of nature, though all species know that Sylphen are best left alone. The exception to this rule are the Neridae, with whom the Sylphen enjoy a close relationship. Many Neridae consider the Sylphen a sister species, and vice versa
While most of the Sylphen are happy to live in the wild lands on their home planets, some are stricken with a wanderlust. Even those with this desire to explore the stars tend to dislike populated areas. Their timid, alert behavior in public places lends to their feral reputation
