The Qihuatl are a semi-nomadic, avian species which rarely live on planet surfaces, preferring to nest among asteroid belts, moving with the galactic currents, migrating to new belts when appropriate. Eschewing the use of proper ships, the Qihuatl pull their nests in long caravans comprised of small floating stones collected on their travels, burdened with their belongings. The Quihuatl have a well-earned reputation for being very logical, even to a fault
The Qihuatl are covered in feathers, and have small, humanoid bodies. They have small to medium claws on their hands and feet, and an inverted ankle. They have long wings which can be either attached directly to the arm, or mounted off the shoulder blade. This particular trait appears to follow no genetic pattern of lineage. Their bone density is lower than most species, similar to the Pheresata. Their facial features fall broadly into four categories, resembling either a crow, falcon, eagle, or owl
The Qihuatl are a practical people and make a point to keep up good relations with their neighbors within a star-system. This has led to generally good relations with the other species. In many star systems, even those at war, it is considered taboo and extremely bad luck to kill a member of the Qihuatl
A small percentage of Qihuatl are born with an insatiable wanderlust that drives them from their clutch a young age. Clutches often try to prevent these souls from leaving before adulthood (6 years), in hopes that they form enough of a bond to return after their adventures have run their course
