The Ileroi are truly a unique species among the denizens of the galaxy. They have a natural, in-born ability to use aeromancy as a part of their locomotion, keeping them afloat above the ground as naturally as walking. They are equally at home in the water, being able to breathe in underwater environments. Ileroi are deeply social creatures, living in family groups called pods, and large societal groups called blooms. Ileroi socieities run the gamut from galactic nomadic to planetary nomadic, to established cities on homeworlds. They prefer planets with a large percent of healthy ocean environments

Ileroi have translucent skin, and a small physical frame, roughly the size of a human child. They have two arms and two legs, though their preferred form of motion is to float 2-3 feet off the ground. To acheive this, they have large fronds that descend from under their head and from their back between the shoulder blades. Running air currents through these fronds, they generate lift and control their movement. Additionally, their bodies have a natural ability to negate gravity, countering the majority of their weight. Their head resembles the bell of a jellyfish, under which they have a human-like face. Their eyes are relatively large and widely set, and their mouths and noses are small. Ileroi do not have facial or body hair, though their fronds resemble hair. Underneath their skin and throughout their fronds run lines of bioluminescence, which varies in color and intensity from person to person

The Ileroi maintain good relationships with most other rational species, though they have had intense conflicts with invaders of Ileroi homeworlds, thinking them to be uninhabited and deeming the Ileroi to be too frail to withstand forced relocation

Ileroi are social creatures, and in the cases where they find themselves away from a pod or bloom, an Ileroi will gravitate to groups, preferably those that operate like a family. Rarely, Ileroi have a strong proclivity for self-sustainment, preferring a more isolated existence. These Ileroi often gravitate toward crews with a more formal social dynamic
