Maol, the capitol city of [[Gerth]], is centrally situated in the [[Flaithiuil Forest]] on the shores of [[Lake Miol]]. The city is the central hub of Gerth's agricultural region, which stretches out along the [[Gerth Channel]]. The city also serves the lumber industry, transporting raw logs up and down the channel to the ports for export

The Chancellor and the Senate both rule from the Governing Hall, which is built on a pier extending out over Lake Miol. The building is built in the traditional Gerth style, rough cut logs with soaring arches, pillars, and cross beams. The Grand Auditorium stands in the center of the hall, three stories tall with overlooking balconies to allow observation. In the center of the room stands a single long table with benches. The table is narrow on one end and widens on the other end. The atmosphere in the sessions is informal and direct, a sharp counterpoint to neighboring [[Reithe]]
