====History====
The Akkaus first founded colonies on Gael, which they believed to be uninhabited after seeing no settlements in many millions of years of naval travel. [[Kalmar]] would follow suit, colonizing the western coast, believing that their proximity to the continent would grant them an edge over the [[Akkaus]]. This proved to be true, and though the [[Akkaus|Akkau]] fought bravely and fiercely, they were defeated. The war, however, weakened [[Kalmar]]'s foothold on the continent, and before their victory over the Akkau was complete, an indigenous population mounted attacks on several key outposts

These attacks came as a complete surprise to [[Kalmar]], which had believed Akkau reports that the continent had been uninhabited. The reality was that the native population, which was mostly human, had intentionally hidden their settlements from the Akkaus which had a reputation for conducting sea raids. This population would eventually drive out [[Kalmar]] soldiers and form a new kingdom, Kal'tael. The population was a mixture of the native population and segments of the [[Kalmar]] colonists which did not support their government's imperial nature

After driving out the invaders and declaring independence, the leadership of the new nation was very fearful that the nation would be drawn into the global conflict during the age of blood. They enacted an industrial revolution, creating the world's largest navy, and developed naval technology substantially. They were also rumored to have been developing mysterious weapons technology, rumors which some historians believe proved an effective deterrent to further invasion

Eventually however, this kingdom would not survive the so called "Kal'Tael Cataclysm", in which the entire continent was destroyed in an event which was as mysterious as it was catastrophic. There are no records of any survivors to the destruction save two single ships which were in [[Arutal]] at the time. To the present day, there are no records, or evidence of what happened to cause such destruction, only theories. The society left behind ruins, artifacts, and many written records, none of which provide clues as to what happened
