==== Hiding and moving silently ====
You are skilled at avoiding detection, allowing you to slip past foes or strike from an unseen position. 

**Check**: Your Stealth check is opposed by the Perception check of anyone who might notice you. Creatures that fail to beat your Stealth check are not aware of you and treat you as if you had concealment. You can move up to half your normal speed and use Stealth at no penalty. If you accept [[combat#advantage|disadvantage]] on your roll, you may move up to your normal speed and retain your stealth. It is impossible to use stealth while attacking, running, or charging

Creatures gain a bonus or penalty on Stealth checks based on their [[wiki:sizes|size]]:

If people are observing you using any of their senses (but typically sight), you can't use Stealth, though finding cover or concealment allows you to attempt to hide. Also, if your observers are momentarily distracted (such as by a [[wiki:sleight of hand|Misdirection]] check), you can attempt to use Hide

//Breaking Stealth//: When you start your turn using Stealth, you can leave cover or concealment and remain unobserved as long as you succeed at a Stealth check and end your turn in cover or concealment, or if your target is distracted. Your Stealth immediately ends after you make an attack of any kind, whether or not the attack is successful (except when sniping as noted below)

//Sniping//: If you've already successfully used Stealth at least 30 feet from your target, you can make one ranged attack and then immediately use Stealth again. This attack is made at [[combat#advantage]]. Your Stealth check to maintain your obscured location is made at [[combat#advantage|disadvantage]]

==== Trackless step ====
You can attempt to hide any evidence of your presence as you move, but this requires that you move at //half speed// in any environment other than stone streets

Hiding your tracks in this way only relates to the imprint left behind by your physical presence. It does not apply to any disruptions resulting in binding the elements, such as upturned earth

Your trackless step skill is opposed by [[wiki:wilderness survival#Tracking]]

==== Spying ====
Spying is a similar to the [[wiki:investigation|Gather Information]] skill used to gather information. If you wish to eavesdrop on a specific person in the moment, use Stealth to avoid being detected and moving into a good position to hear certain information. You can always simply roleplay spying if you wish

If instead you wish to gather information without any socializing, or you wish to gather information that cannot be obtained by socializing, then you will use Spying. A spy check is opposed by [[Perception]]. The information gained by the check corresponds to the difficulty of obtaining the information in question (Easy, Moderate, Hard, Near Impossible), and/or the security of the area in which you operate
