When you take your first two ranks in this skill, you must choose a type of performance from the list below each time. These chosen types are the only ones you may use when making a Perform check. Knowledge Arts is automatically granted and need not be chosen in order to be used.

You may use a performance to make money, to improve opinions of you, or to improve the mood of a group in general. If the setting is appropriate, you may use perform to give a bonus to [[wiki:investigation|Investigation]] checks made on those who were able to hear the performance, given in the table below.

|10|	Routine performance: Trying to earn money by playing in public is akin to begging. You can earn 1d10 cp/day|0|
|15|	Enjoyable performance: In a prosperous city, you can earn 1d10 sp/day|+1|
|20|	Great performance: In a prosperous city, you can earn 3d10 sp/day. In time, you may be invited to join a professional troupe and may develop a regional reputation|+2|
|25|	Memorable performance: In a prosperous city, you can earn 1d6 gp/day. In time, you may come to the attention of noble patrons and develop a national reputation |+4|
|30|	Extraordinary performance: In a prosperous city, you can earn 3d6 gp/day. In time, you may draw attention from distant patrons, or even from extraplanar beings|+6|

===== Orate =====
Oration deals with the ability to tell an enchanting tale or a gripping epic, or the ability to give an inspirational speech. It is also used for eloquence of speech in general. When a character with ranks in oration speaks, their words have a natural gravity and beauty.

===== Sing =====
Singing pertains to any song, be it a rousing tavern tune or a beautiful piece of opera. Song is a common way to influence an entire barroom positively in your favor. When choosing Song as one of your performance types, pick a type of song as your specialty. When singing this type of song, you receive a +2 bonus on your Perform check.

===== Dance =====
Dancing relates to all kinds of dance, from freestyle to ballet. A character who has ranks in dance moves with natural grace and beauty. You may not select dance as one of your performance types if you have a dexterity score lower than 12. When selecting dance as one of your performance types, you may pick a type of dance as your specialty. When performing this type of dance, you receive a +2 bonus on your Perform check.

===== Act =====
Acting deals with the portrayal of a character, usually in a structured performance, but not always. A character with ranks in Acting gains a +1 bonus to Bluff for each rank, up to a maximum of +4. Characters with this performance type have a great deal of control over their facial expressions and mannerisms.

===== Bluff =====
You may use your ranks in Perform to make a bluff check, but only if you have chosen Oration or Acting as one of your performance types

===== Play Instrument =====
Play Instrument refers to your skill in playing with a particular instrument or family of similar instruments. You may select Play Instrument as your performance type more than once, each time that you do this you pick a different instrument or instrument group


===== Knowledge Arts ===== 
You have knowledge of the arts, both now, and throughout history. Answering easy questions is a DC 10, common questions is DC 15, and obscure questions is DC 20. You gain a +4 Bonus when questions are related to a Perform skill you have as a chosen skill.
